Parent Class (Home-Teacher Training)
The Home-Teacher Training Course will meet once a week for 6 consecutive weeks. The course will include topics related to Suzuki method philosophy and teaching practices, creating an ideal home environment and basic activities on the guitar.
These include:.
Seating & positioning the guitar Creating the home environment Initial guitar strokes and tone production Suzuki Philosophy Reading and performing initial repertoire Home lesson strategies & activities Basic guitar terminology & concepts Motivating the child
During the course the parent will begin preparing the home environment- laying the foundation for the student to begin study.
Parents will need to rent or own:
-A full-sized classical guitar for the period of this course. Low cost classical guitars are available locally at Jackson’s music (3443 Robinhood Rd, 7650-9635) starting at $125.
-An electronic tuner
-Guitarists footstool
-Music stand
-Suzuki Guitar School Vol. 1 (Alfred)
These supplemental materials (not guitar) can be the same ones later used by the student.
